project prompt
Food and jewelry are two unlikely companions. Both provide a sense of fulfillment, in different manners albeit. By using a critical design process, I wanted to create a piece that would provide a discourse around the integration of the delicate aspects of jewelry with the act of food consumption, which is indulgent and far from delicate.
design features
All the metal parts were cut using a water-jet cutter and finished by hand. Early prototypes were made using acrylic sheets to closely mimic the properties of metal in a woodshop before fabricating in metal prototype and bending the flat metal sheet. For the final assembly, I made jigs to make sure each piece was consistent in its size and quality.
